And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)
Let’s think about words, seeds and grace for a moment. Paul speaks of the word of His grace, which is able to build us up and give us an inheritance. The gospel is ‘the word of His grace.’
Jesus refers to His words as seeds (Mt. 13:23). So, we can think of His words (the gospel) as seeds of His grace. As we hear and receive these ‘grace seeds,’ and we understand them, they will bear fruit in our lives. We could think of the gospel as a limitless bag of grace seeds, each seed fully prepared to accomplish God’s purpose in your life!
How can we see a multiplication of His grace (His abundant provision) in our lives? Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, (2 Pet. 1:2). Knowing God multiplies grace in our lives. The more we know Him, His nature, His love, His power and His purposes, the more His grace seeds spring up in our lives. Grace and peace are multiplied in our lives through knowledge just as natural seeds produce a harvest for the farmer.
All of His seeds are alive and active and ready to go to work! For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (2 Cor. 1:20) Every promise carries within the power to be fulfilled. The only requirement is that the seed of that promise find the good soil of your heart. There is no need for lack in our lives. The seeds of His grace are abundant.
And he said, so is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knows not how. For the earth brings forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. (Mk. 4:26-28)
Put His grace seeds (His Word, His promises and the knowledge of God) to work in your life. There is more than enough for all of us!
